Stepping Stones Children's Center first opened its doors in August 1995 with their home-base being in Belgium. Laura Klingelhoets opened the center in hopes of creating a nurturing environment for the children in the area. Laura is still the Administrator/Owner of Stepping Stones along with two of her daughters, each a Director at a location. Stepping Stones Children's Center has moved a couple of times in Belgium but now has been happily settled at 420 Park Street. It is an unbelievable location with 9 acres for the children to explore nature, their environment, and be children.
The sister Port Washington Center is located on Walters Street in the lower level of Harbor Club and Village, a multi-generational building. This enables the children to spend time with their "grandpas and grandmas" whether it be doing an art project with them, listening to music or having someone read a story to them. We also have wonderful outdoor space at this location for the children to learn and play on.
Locations in the past have included Fredonia, Random Lake, and a before and after school program space within the Cedar Grove-Belgium School District.
Through educational experiences and the guidance of knowledgeable staff, Stepping Stones Children's Center is a great place for children to be able to learn and explore. The energy from the children and staff within the facilities continue to make Stepping Stones Children's Center the fun and caring place it is today.
